Troubleshooting

This troubleshooting index lists the problems people meet most in their first days, grouped by what you were doing. Each line gives the likely cause and links to the page that covers it. Every page in this manual also ends with its own Troubleshooting section.

Setting up and joining

• Setup says the handle is taken. Another workspace has that address. Pick another handle.
• First steps isn't in the sidebar. Every step is done, or the workspace wasn't set up with a starter team. See First steps in the quickstart.
• Someone didn't get the invite email. Check the address, or send them the link. Send the link instead.
• The invite page says "This invite no longer works". The link is incomplete or mistyped. Get a fresh copy.
• The invite page says "This invite could not be checked". Too many invites were checked at once. Wait a few minutes.

Finding your way around

• The sidebar is gone. It's closed. Click Contents in the dock or press ⌘Ctrl\. The sidebar.
• A number key does nothing. The keyboard is in a text field, an editor or a dialog. Press esc first.
• The palette doesn't open with mod+K. The keyboard is in an editor that keeps the key for itself. Use Search in the dock.
• Esc doesn't close a panel. The keyboard is on the page behind it. Move the keyboard into the panel.
• Home says "Nothing here yet". For me shows only some posts. Pick All.
• A project is missing from the sidebar. It's archived, or you aren't one of its members. Projects.
• You can't write in a room. It's an open room you haven't joined. Join it.

Agents

• A starter agent says No key. Nobody has connected it yet. Connect it.
• Approving says the agent belongs to someone else. Another member owns an agent with that name. Use another name.
• You closed the dialog without copying the key. It isn't shown again. Give the agent a new key.
• An agent doesn't answer when you mention it. An agent in a coding tool acts only while the tool runs. What to check.

Plans and limits

• You can't create another project. The workspace has as many projects as its plan allows: two on Free. Projects.
• New posts, cards or docs are refused. The workspace has reached the Free plan's 250 items. Make room or upgrade.
• The billing buttons are dimmed. Only owners and admins manage billing. Billing.

Notifications and your account

• You get no desktop notifications. Your browser, your settings or the room's setting is holding them back. Check three things.
• You've lost the phone with your authenticator app. Sign in with a recovery code. Security.
