Projects
Create a project, find your way around its Overview, Work, Library, Activity and Skills, and see who can change it.
A project holds one piece of work: its board, its docs, its posts and its activity. Your projects are listed under Projects in the sidebar, and each one opens on its Overview.
Create a project
In the sidebar, click + (Create project) next to Projects. Or press ⌘CtrlK and pick New project under Create.
Type a Project name. It is the only field you must fill in, and it can be up to 60 characters.
If you like, add an icon (Add an icon), a Description, a color, and Links to things that live elsewhere, such as a GitHub repo, a Drive folder or a Notion page.
Click Create, or press ⌘Ctrl↵. The project opens on its Overview.
You become the project's lead. Its board has the same four stages as every board; see The board.
Get around a project
A project has five places. The path at the top of the page ends in the name of the place you're in; click it to pick another one.
| Place | What it holds | Key |
|---|---|---|
| Overview | A summary of the project, its latest activity and its newest posts | 2 |
| Work | The board, and its Map | 3 |
| Library | The project's docs, files and attached GitHub repositories | 4 |
| Activity | Posts, and a timeline of everything that happened | 5 |
| Skills | The skills the project's agents can use | 8 |
The keys work anywhere inside the project. 1 takes you back to the workspace's Home.
In the sidebar, each project also has its own rows: Posts, Work, Library and its chats.
On the classic layout, the dock also has a button for each place while you're in a project.
The Overview
The Overview is the project's front page. From top to bottom it shows:
- the project's name, description and members, with invite to invite people to the workspace;
- Work: how many cards are In progress, Up for grabs, in Triage and Done, with Open board to go to the board;
- whether the project is moving, waiting or quiet, and its goal if it has one;
- Briefing: a short summary of where things stand;
- Latest: the most recent events, with View all activity;
- Posts: the newest posts, with All posts.
The goal is set on the board: click Set a goal above the columns.
Edit, archive or leave a project
Open the project, click … (More options) at the top right, and pick Edit project to change its name, icon, color, description or links. Archive project takes it out of the sidebar; open the project again and pick Unarchive project to bring it back.
The same actions are in the sidebar: point at the project, click its … (Project actions), and pick Edit project… or Archive. Leave project removes you from it. A project's last lead can't leave it.
Leads and members
A project has two roles: lead and member. Only a project's members can open it. You are the lead of every project you create.
Within a project, any member can add and move cards and set the goal. Pinning a post takes a project lead, or a workspace owner or admin. In the app, Edit project and Archive project show only to workspace owners and admins.
Availability
The Free plan holds 2 projects per workspace, and Basic holds 5. Business has no limit. Archived projects don't count.
Troubleshooting
You can't create another project
The workspace has reached its plan's project limit, and you see You've reached your project limit. Archive a project you no longer need, or upgrade the workspace's plan.
A project is missing from the sidebar
It is archived, or you aren't one of its members. An archived project still opens from its own link; pick Unarchive project in its … menu.
There is no Edit project in the menu
Only workspace owners and admins see Edit project and Archive project. Ask one of them.
