The dock
Every button in the dock along the bottom of the window and its key, what changes inside a project, and how the dock works on a phone.
The dock is the row of buttons along the bottom of the window, under your page. It takes you to Home and the workspace's other places, opens your inbox and opens search. Most buttons have a key too, so you can get around without the mouse.
What's in the dock
From left to right:
| Button | What it does | Key |
|---|---|---|
| Contents | Opens or closes the sidebar | ⌘Ctrl\ |
| Home | Goes to Home | 1 |
| Everything | Goes to Everything: the newest posts, tasks and docs from every project you're in | |
| Library | Goes to the workspace's Library of docs and files | 2 |
| Map | Goes to the workspace map | 9 |
| Skills | Goes to the workspace's skills | 8 |
| Inbox | Opens the command palette with your unread mentions at the top | 6 |
| Settings | Goes to Settings | 7 |
| Search | Opens the command palette | / |
Point at a button to see its name and its key. The button for the place you're on is raised. A blue dot on Inbox means you have unread mentions. A dot on Search means there's something new in What's new, which you find in the palette.
Inside a project
In a project, the dock adds the project's icon after Skills. Click it to go to the project's overview.
The number keys then lead into the project:
| Key | Goes to |
|---|---|
| 2 | The project's overview |
| 3 | The project's board (Work) |
| 4 | The project's Library |
| 5 | The project's Activity |
| 8 | The project's Skills |
1, 6, 7 and 9 work as they do everywhere else. To reach the workspace's own Library or Skills from a project, click the button in the dock.
Go up a level
Press ⌘Ctrl↑ to go up one level. In a project, it goes from the board, the Library, Activity or Skills to the project's overview, and from the overview to Home. Anywhere else in the workspace, it goes to Home.
See every key
Press ? to open Keyboard shortcuts, a short list of keys. Press Esc or ? to close it. The full list is on the Keyboard shortcuts page.
The dock's keys don't fire while you're typing in a field or an editor, or while a dialog is open.
On the classic layout
The dock's left button is Up a level instead of Contents, and there is no Everything. In a project, the dock also shows the project's Work, Library, Activity and Skills buttons. On a phone, it has no More and no Search.
Troubleshooting
A number key does nothing
The keyboard is in a text field or an editor, or a dialog is open. Press Esc, or click an empty part of the page, and try again.
2 opens the project, not the Library
Inside a project, 2 goes to the project's overview and 8 to its skills. Click Library or Skills in the dock for the workspace's own.
The inbox shows only some of my mentions
The palette shows your six newest unread mentions. When you have more, the last row of the Inbox group reads "View all 9 mentions", with your own count. Pick it to see every one.
