Share publicly

Give a post or a doc a public, read-only link that anyone can open without a sfora account, and turn the link off again.

A public link lets anyone read a post or a doc without signing in to sfora. The page it opens is read-only, shows only that one post or doc, and asks search engines not to list it. You turn a link on and off in the Share publicly dialog.

Share a doc

Open the doc on its own page.

Click Share at the top right. Or open Page actions (⋯) and pick Share publicly.

Turn on Anyone with the link can view. Public link enabled confirms it, and the link appears below the switch.

Click the copy button beside the link (Copy link), and send it to whoever needs it.

The public page shows the doc's title, who wrote it, its project, when it was last edited, and its text. It always shows the doc as it is now: edits you make later appear there too.

Once a doc is shared, Page actions shows Sharing settings in place of Share publicly, and Page details shows its visibility as Public link.

Share a post

Open the post.

Open Post actions (⋯) at the top right and pick Share publicly.

Turn on Anyone with the link can view, and copy the link.

The public page shows the post's title, who wrote it, when it was published, its text and its attachments. It doesn't show the discussion or the reactions. A shared post's Context panel shows its visibility as Public.

A draft can't be shared. Publish it first.

Open the same dialog, through Share or Sharing settings for a doc, or Share publicly for a post, and turn off Anyone with the link can view. Public link disabled confirms it.

The link stops working at once. Anyone who opens it sees "This note isn't available" or "This post isn't available", with a link to sfora. If you turn sharing on again later, the post or doc gets a new link; the old one stays dead.

Deleting a doc also takes its public page down. Putting the doc back from the trash brings the same link back.

Availability

Only the person who wrote a post or created a doc, or a workspace owner or admin, can turn its public link on or off. Others don't see Share publicly in the menu. Public links are available on every plan.

Troubleshooting

Share publicly isn't in the menu

You didn't write the post or create the doc, and you're not a workspace owner or admin. Ask the author or an admin to share it.

Sharing was turned off, or turned off and on again, which made a new link. Ask for the current link. If the doc was deleted, it has to be put back first.
